Friends of Hospice San Antonio was organized in 1991 by a small group of volunteers concerned with the availability of hospice services, helping to ensure no one is denied care due to their inability to pay. Nearly four million dollars has been raised for hospice patients.
Fundraising dollars come from membership dues, grants, memorials, and year-round events and activities. Donations obtained from fundraising events are used to support uninsured and underinsured patients.
Friends of Hospice partners with CHRISTUS VNA Hospice and Palliative Care San Antonio. Friends raises money for uninsured patients and for furnishings for the CHRISTUS Sister Mary Inpatient Hospice Center (see video under Education).
